baitcast reel to match with fast action MH rod for texas rigs

I'm in the process of adding some decent baitcast setups to my collection to either replace spinning gear or at least to use more properly when I'd run heavier baits.  I've got a jig BC setup (extra fast action with 6:1 Revo 3S - powerful drag), one for deep cranks (7' glass moderate action with with 5:2:1 Pro-Qualifier) and one that matches well with spinnerbaits and some topwater (6'10" moderate-fast with another ProQ...this time 6:1).

Obviously the jig rod could be used to fish texas rigs too, but for the sake of not having to re-tie lures all day I may be grabbing another BC rod.  Mainly anticipating using this for texas rigs or other weighted soft plastic applications (carolina rig).  Should be a fast action MH 7' and I'm trying to figure out what gear ratio of reel and drag power to best match with it for presentations.

Any suggestions?  Guess it depends where I'd fish it, and whether I'd want to be prepared to punch through mats or fish super heavy cover huh?  Was kinda figuring another 6:1 reel with a solid drag setting would be most versatile...

Get another PQ in 6:4:1. Just my opinion but that's my favorite all around ratio. I do use 7:1:1 on my Jig rod for flipping. When it's topwater time that same pole and reel do that well too!

right.  I was figuring something in that category.  think the PQ has enough drag though?  just seems like people favor reels with the more powerful drag settings for potentially fishing in cover.  that's why the reels I have for more active presentations (cranks and spinners) are the PQ's but I went with the Revo for jigs.  not that I wouldn't crank through some thin brush or bounce a spinnerbait off stuff, but you know what I mean...

Dont worry about the drag too much. 10-12 lbs is plenty, after that you can use some thumb drag to control it. I fish heavy stuff down here, and have never needed more than what my Shimanos can dish, and I dont even lock the drags. PQ will do fine.

My jig pole is a Lew's 7:1:1 and honestly the drag is stronger on the PQ. I agree with good ole thumb drag. I once put my first spinning rod back together wrong and had almost no drag! I didn't realize till I hooked a fish and had to thumb drag it all the way in! Lolol that was a goof lol

I wish I could have seen the look on your face when you realized what was going on. I can remember not setting the drag on my reel one time before using it, and swinging for the fences on a hookset, and line just pulling out. LOL, its pretty funny when you think about it.
