I bought my Ranger 520 used. Its a 2001....I rushed them to get it ready so I could take it to Lake fork the same day. (Shouldnt do that by the way)...Anyway they cleaned it up and oit looked pretty good. So after 9 months I decided I'd like to get some of the oxidation out of it. I tried rubbing compound and really giving it a good cleaning and all. So I did some reading and was going to do it over the winter....when its not a 105 outside....So I was goofing off with it and did a very small area following some instructions I got from a friend and read on a boat site....this is what I've got done...Just the top cap as the sides look new....

All in all I think it looks pretty good....NOW...If I could get some ideas how to do the fenders on the trailer....Id be happy as all get out!!!

Looks really good redtop. I got some dull patches on mine that could do with some shine.

I think you should post how you did it. That looks amazing! My nitro needs it done also.

Do your fenders the same way you have done the top cap, even if you have painted metal fenders buffing will bring them back.

Wash the boat really good...

2000 grit sand paper and wet sand a small area....make sure you wipe the area really good. Lil bit of wax and buff. After you do all the areas you want to do let it sit....next day go back and look at it...if you still see spots that are faded wet sand it again....wax it again....I also hand buffed each time then used a buffer with a micro fiber buffing cloth. Id buff the waxed area after I hand buffed it.

I basically did the top cap of the boat 2 times wet sanding. I used a lil 0000 steel wool on some areas that were a bit testy...but I NEVER SANDED VERY HARD WITH EITHER....just a lil pressure. You'll feel the finish starting to get smooth. When you feel that.....wipe it off and apply the wax...think layers of wax....

I've pretty much finished mine. Let it set for 2 days and then dust it off....apply some quick detailer spray with a UV protectant...wipe that off and you should eb good to go!!!
