Can you get a bass boat on this lake?  I would like to try it in spring.

He might be able to give you some info on the lake and OHbassaholic might be able to as well. OH is usually on during the day so I would say to make sure you check back here and he might be able to help you out

I grew up in McArthur, OH just down the road from Lake Rupert.  It was mostly known for its catfishing, but I recently read somewhere that it has good numbers of bass.  You can get a boat on it, I am not sure what the limitations are, probably electric only, but you would have to make sure.  I also remember it getting quite a bit of pressure in the summer.

I couldn't find anything about this body of water on the ODNR website.  But, I did find this...

Lake Rupert in Vinton County. This 325-acre bass lake is known as the Wellston Reservoir. With average depths of 8 feet and maximums of up to 28 feet, this lake features shallow water for early warmth and more depth for big bass hideouts. Good numbers of largemouths of 5 pounds and over are pulled from this lake early in the year.

With structure consisting of old roadbeds, sunken bridges and long sloping points, anglers have numerous areas to practice their skills. With weeds in the upper end and fallen trees along the shoreline, there is also a bountiful supply of fish attractors.

The lake is north of Wellston, off state Route 93. A slot limit for fish between 12 and 15 inches is in force at Lake Rupert. Fishing-type boats with up to 6 horsepower are the limit for this lake.

With the AKA of "Wellston Reservoir", I found this on the ODNR...

WELLSTON CITY RESERVOIR - Vinton County, 322 acres, 10 h.p. limit

Bluegill, Redear - Bluegill are moderately to heavily populated with an average size of 6". Redear sunfish are moderately to heavily populated with an average size of 7". OUTLOOK - GOOD

Largemouth Bass - Electrofishing results of spring 1989 indicated the largemouth bass population would benefit from a 12-15" protected slot length limit. This black bass regulation was implemented March 1, 1990. Numerous bass up to 8 lbs. were sampled during the spring 1995 and 1996 electrofishing surveys. Angler reports for 2003 indicated most fish were in the less than 1.5 lb.OUTLOOK - EXCELLENT

Channel Catfish - The population presently occurs in moderate numbers. Alternate year stockings of yearling channel catfish have improved angling for this species. Catfishing success for 2003 indicated a good report of 1 lb. to 2.5 lb. fish being caught from shore using live bait (night crawlers) and shrimp. OUTLOOK - GOOD-EXCELLENT

Saugeye - Saugeye fingerlings were introduced in 1991 and have been stocked annually. Netting surveys of 1995 sampled saugeye from 8.5 - 25". Some walleye may remain from the late 80's. These remnant fish should be large in size. OUTLOOK - GOOD-EXCELLENT

Crappie - Anglers for 2003 reported catching fish in the 9"-10" size range.

Comments: Netting results from spring 1997 indicated an improvement in crappie quality. Walleye stockings were discontinued in favor of the saugeye which perform better in Ohio impoundments. Over 200 Christmas trees were placed in Lake Rupert to serve as fish concentration devices in 1999.An angler survey is planned for implementation during April-early August in 2004.

5 yr. Stocking Summary: ~ 15.4K yearling channel catfish; ~ 171.9K fingerling saugeye.
