I'm from south mississippi and I'm going to be in Fort Walton this week. I plan on bringing my boat to do some saltwater fishing in the bays and everything, but I was wondering if there are any rivers or lakes or anything close to Fort Walton for bass. Any info helps. Thanks

The Choctawhatchee River feeds the east end of Choctawhatchee Bay. We launch in Black Creek which feeds the river. A search on Google maps should provide a good amount of help.

I'll have to take a look. Thank you

if you go a little west you have the Escambia River and Blackwater River in Pensacola.  Go a little east and you have Deerpoint lake in panama city.

Go North to the state line and you have Lake Jackson in Florala, AL. Not to be confused with Lake Jackson in Opp, AL. which that lake is good fishing as well.

Good luck. Hurricane lake up near Crestview I think. Bout 30-40 miles north of Ft Walton. I was stationed at Eglin for about 10 years. I just bit the bullet and fished Seminole , Talquin and Jackson. Better fishing and worth the drive. If you do not mind putting your boat in the intercoastal waterway, I would fish for reds and trout at night under/near docks with lights.  8)

I've been fishing drop offs by the grass beds in the bay for specks and reds. Probably won't end up having time to do much bass fishing, but I'm sure I'll go check some of these places out next time I'm around. Thanks, guys
