Battery compartments??

Can anyone tell me what is under the 2 batteries "shelves" in the TR-185?  I need to secure the 2 batteries on the drivers (starboard) side of battery compartment, but before drilling and securing 2 battery trays I need to know what I am drilling into......?

I don't know tritons that well so lets get that out of the way 

That said, generally all the pumps are in the middle of the boat, simply by the nature of a boat that's the best place to put them. All wiring harnesses go from your batteries forward to operate equipment and dash. Connections to the motor are from the battery. So the only possible wiring is from the motor to dash. The way boats are built and put together, a manufacture is not going to put wiring in an area that they can't get to later for troubleshooting if need be. 

Up under your batteries there will be nothing but Fiberglass layers and foam. To put a screw in the floor under your batters should be no problem.

I wouldn't do any drilling unless you have a stop set up to prevent drilling further than you'll need for the screws. Fiberglass is pretty easy to simply put a screw in unless the screw is very thick. I'd measure out your trays for where you want them and simply screw them to the floor.

Mike your not a warranty administrator for an Italian yacht builder. They put 90% of their wiring and multiple relays in places that never see the light of day.

Getting reimbursed for warranty work is a bear.they just don't see how it takes so long.

I repeatedly tell them it easy when the entire deck is separate from the hull when they run the wiring.

I'm sure it's the same way with our bass boats.

The manufactures could care less about their dealers service departments.

The couple factories I've been too (of course the Legend Boats factory the most) wiring harnesses are installed before the two halves go together, but the area BK is concerned about is shot in the mold and I haven't come across one that puts wiring harnesses in at that time. I could be completely wrong, but if you can account for the majority of the wires BK you should be good.

I'm with you Sig, manufacturers of many things don't worry about dealer work

Sweet, I'll get my new trays and screw them in. I had a feeling there would only be foam in there, but I wanted to make sure before I drilled into a fuel tank or something.

Update, I installed the new trays and all is good. Thanks for everyone's input and help!
