Changing Motor Oil

Can I use regular motor oil when changing oil in my 2011 Merc 60HP EFI 4 cycle engine or do I have to buy special outboard motor oil at $10 quart?

Any engine in warranty that has a problem may have a second problem if you do not use manuf recommended oil. Not really a question of if its any good, but will manufacturer honor warranty if used.

That was the only reason I could thing of also but I was hoping someone had contacted Merc for an answer. Guess I will contact them myself and see what they have to say and why, will let you know if I get an answer from them.
