I'm still getting reports of people using the public ramp on Cross just fine???
There is only one way to find out Johnny boy!!

JMGullo

Yea but I won't be home to find out til the end of next week.

Broskee

I might drive up there and check it out, Cross isn't but 5 miles from the house!

Well I just checked the rainfall totals from the last 24 hours. Shreveport airport had 2.06 inches, downtown airport had 1.59 inches and Barksdale had 1.91 inches. Should be plenty of runoff for the lakes if my flooded back yard is any indication of how saturated the ground is right now.

JMGullo

Yea mine is pretty wet too. My boat is in the back yard! Gonna be a mess to get it out today!

With the last few rains, we should fill up most of our area lakes to normal pool levels by the beginning of the New Year!!!

The beginning of the new year is only a week away :o to be full by then would shock me, however the slow yet large amounts of rain the last few weeks have done wonders for the ground so run off should be happening by leaps and bounds now.

Todd, do you have insider info about water tables to be able to say you think the lakes will be full so quick?

No insider info, Mike...just an edjumicated guess.  I keep a pretty close eye on saturation levels and runoff from the different feeder creeks/drainage basins just north and west of us.

Just looking at the USGS Cypress gauge and stopping by BB here in Benton, it seems the lakes are rising about double the actual rainfall this month. Cypress rose about 4" the last 2 days.

4"s is good, but to fill our lakes that are 4-5 feet low by the end of the week is not going to happen. I usually try to look at the positive side of things, but I have to take a realist approach on this one. I drove around Cypress and looked, yes the local ponds are full but there is very little current under the hwy 162 bridge, and on BBB there is still land showing west of the linton cutoff bridge.
Things are improving, but we still have a long way to go.

It typically takes 3-4 days after the rains have stopped, to get an accurate count of the runoff...depending how far it has to run.  I was thinking about Cross/Caddo/BB Hosston/Bistineau...not Cypress/BB.  Cypress/BB have a very small drainage basin compared the the other area lakes that are low.  Cypress/BB was also drawn down a lot more than the other area lakes too.

I honestly hope you are correct, you won't hear me complain about our lakes filling up.

Went over Linton Rd. bridge yesterday and the west flats looked to be underwater. I've been watching them everytime I go over them. Water has moved up under that first dock a fair amount. If the other lakes have a larger runoff basin than Cypress/BBB, then they should be moving up nicely.

Edutton

According to the National Weather Services website, Bistineau has came up about 7" in the last 48 hours at the dam. As of 8:00 am today Caddo has came up about 4.25" in the same timeframe. Toledo is only showing 3".

Yep! Humps are underwater, and the bush off the south bank on the east side of the bridge is now only a stick sticking up!  ~c~

Caddo is up to 168.5. Is this high enough to launch at Tuckers and run the boat rows?

bassadict69

Water is now up to my dock. However, I drove to the BB launch today and could REALLY tell that it is still WAY too low!

Mike Cork

The brushpile in black bayou off the side of Linton Rd is almost gone. A couple more rains before the ground dries out and we may get to fish it this spring. However if we don't get a LOT of water it will get shut down when the golf course starts pulling water again :'(

Cane River in Natchitoches is up too, but still way low. the water is almost under the docks at shell beach landing

beast96z

I thought the golf course was drilling a another water well to help with sprinkler water?

Kyle Kennington

U can launch at Tucker's and get on plane without stirring up mud. Lake still about 2 ft
Low but getting better everyday
