I just purchased a 1988 175SX for a whopping $400. This boat came up from California to Oregon in approx. 1996. That was the last time it was registered. It was stripped of engine, all electronics inc. batteries and left to die in a field. The Skeeter trailer is in good shape (I just put in new seals and lube for the wheel bearings). There is a "Turbo" jackplate on the transom. The boat has some issues with the rain and snow while uncovered in the field. The longitudinal stringer on the port side is rotten. The plywood floor in many places had been removed or was so rotten that it was pulled up. Easy to see how Skeeter put the floor in and then install the deck. So now, the work starts. I think I can pull almost all the plywood to at least 2" under the fiberglass lip of the deck except in the pilot area which is in pretty good shape. I think Git Rot in the pilot area and new wood for the stringer and fiberglass mat for the "tunnel". I'm not disappointed , but realize it is a pretty good undertaking to resurrect this fine boat. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.
