For those of you who missed the GCSO Tournament, you missed a good one.  And only 25 lbs for two days got you $10,000.  The bass are biting like crazy in the Lake Wimico and Lower end of the Apalachicola River.  I don't have all the stats yet but out of a possible 200 limits (100 boats per day) there was probably 180 limits (guessing) brought to the scales (900 bass).  That's a bunch.  But as far as how many bass were caught in the tournament.  There's no telling.  Several teams reported catching 40 - 60 per day.  We caught around 30 plus each day.  I would imagine there were 3,000 - 4,000 bass caught overall in this tournament, if not more.  You certainly were not bored during the day.  Our best 5 on day 1 only weighed a little over 7.5 lbs and were probably in 50 something place with 14+ leading it on day 1.  Day 2 we did a little better with 11+ and jumped to 16th place with a total of 18.95 lbs.  It didn't take much to jump a long way.  They paid 14 places ($450) and that was 19.1 lbs.  So close!  On day 2 got the Horny Toad out (like I should have done on day 1) and threw it until my arms couldn't take it anymore.  It almost paid off.  I'll have pics and results in a day or two.
Have a good one & thank GOD for it.

Heard it was a good one Allen.  Sorry I missed out on all that catching. Who were the lucky winners? Was on Seminole doing a little scouting for the Media Bass tournament the end of the month. Caught some there, but a lot more work than you put in on a per fish basis.

We ended up with 15.12 for the tourney. My partner lost a solid 5 pounder at the boat on day two  :'(  The bass fishing was absolutely intense at times.  On Sunday I literally have no idea how many bass we caught but I would say it was easily over 50. The problem is about 45 of those 50 were only about 11 inches long. The bass's feeding habits were also about as strange as I've ever seen,  we couldn't get a bite on crankbaits but even with bluebird skies I caught bass on a junebug buzzbait all day long.  Whats crazier is they seemed to hit it even better during the middle of the day than in the morning.  I second the horny toad, they hit that very well also.  We focused mostly in the East River area and there was a lot of bait.  A lot of bass we caught would spit up shad and small bluegill as we were fighting them to the boat.  Overall we had a great time and I thought the tournament was run very well.  Congrats to everyone who took part in it. Cheers!
Just one more Cast.

You are right, could not get much of a top water bite in the morning.  But as the day went on and the water got lower the top water bite got better.

I have the results as far as boat numbers go.  But I have to put names with the boat numbers or it won't mean much to anyone.

Swede I don't know the names of the winners, probably from your neck of the woods.  But will post everything as soon as possible.  And you can have Seminole right now.  But I do hope you win that Boat!
Have a good one & thank GOD for it.

We had 18+ for two days, just out of the money. We also caught 40 to 50 a day all small. I caught multiple 6 to 8 lbers sorry they were all red fish. It was a fantastic fishing trip as far as catching fish, what a great time can't wait till next year.
