I got to thinking with all of the latest colors out there now, there are probably very few people using old school colors. I figured they should work really well. Boy was I right! I have had real good success on: Blake Grape worms and Motor Oil Worms. I'm dying to get my hands on some Root beer worms if they even make them anymore. Anybody else have success using the old colors from the 80's and 90's? If so, what have been your favorites back in the day?

I can't tell you the amount of fish I've caught on motor oil. Manns Blueberry was a color I used a lot many years ago, tried it this past season again and was very surprised how well it still works! Fire tail colors, still going strong  :-*

6" curly tail with a hot pink tail.  Only down side is all the shell crackers.  I take the same philosophy to my spinnerbaits. My skirt and head colors are very basic. Black, White, Chartruse, Yellow, Red, Peach.
With the skirts, I mix 2 of the colors sometimes, and throw blue into the mix.   Same deal with buzzbaits.  With reaction baits, I dont feel like color is the dominant trigger, most of the time. Jim

Well I make a Black Grape and can make a Motor Oil if needed. I also have a Root Beer color but have not tested it yet. So far I have not had a request for Motor Oil yet so what would your dream Motor Oil look like for color and glitter? I am game to make up a new stock color.

A couple more old colors that worked really well.... One was a brown worm with orange curly tail. I used to order them through Toledo Tackle by the hundreds they were so good! I found them in a Mister Twister version recently and ordered a few bags. They still worked awesome for me! Another color that worked great in the Everglades in the 80's was a Black Grape with a Powder Blue curly tail. I remember when the tackle shops couldn't keep them in stock! I have to find some of those again to try out. Those were the days....

6 in. Basic Black straight-tail worm.  With hard baits I have always fished white with a red head.  J-bugs, H-poppers, River Runts, and other crankbaits.

Still after 20 years, using Black/Grape worms. A color I would love to find again that use to just hammer the bass as far as plastic worms go, translucent blue/firetail. Culprit, Mr.Twister and a few other companies use to carry such, but can't find them anymore. The third biggest bass I ever caught came on this color worm.

As for other lures, with the exception of a few new colors here and there, like Spros nasty shad for example, I am still using the same old color jigs, cranks, spinnerbaits and such as I always have and still catching bass on them. In fact I would have to say that about 90 percent of my lures are old school colors.
