Had a club tourney tourney today on otisco lake. Showed up at the launch around 5:15 am to see a bunch of boats lined up which is unusual because the club i fish in is pretty small come to find out there were two other club tournaments going on there today. Luckily the other two were also some what small. Betweeen all 3 clubs i would say probably around 40 boats. Started out the day trying some top water over some weeds with no hits. Fiddled around with a few other things befor i finally caught my first fish of the day about an hour in on a drop shot rig with a finess worm. Quickly caught two more. Then the long grind began the next 6 or so hours was alot of dinks and finally finish out my 5 fish limit by 1:00. Luckily No one else in my club  was able to figure them out either and i ended up taking first place with 9.13. I guess the some one did there home work in one of the other clubs and ended up with a 25lb bag to win it!! Weather was over cast with winds 5 to 10 out of the south. I caught most my fish on the out side weed edges in 15-25 ft of water.

Good report and congratulations on the win.

The other clubs bag of 25 lbs....any idea what they were caught on?  Smallies or Largemouth?

No im not quite sure, i seen a group of  around ten boats jigging that weed flat outside the narrows on  the north end so it looked like something was going on there. but who knows my one buddy was fishing that area with not much to show for it so the guy who caught that bag definally had something dialed in.

Always drove me nuts when I would have a good tournament, have a decent weight and a good kicker and then have someone come in with a huge bag and blow my lunker and weight away.

Good example was back in the 80's fished a March Redman tournament on Lake Kissimmee in Florida.  Had a great day on the water.   Had a limit of 25lbs with a 9+ pound kicker.  I honestly thought I had the tournament won and had the lunker......wrong!  My 9 lber was not even in the top ten and my 25 lb weight was not even in the money.  Every one of those Florida boys knew how to sight fish for the big female spawners.  The weights and lunkers were amazing!  The lunker for the tournament was a 14 lb monster and winning weight was close to 40 lbs.
