upper mills TX 7/24/11

well this was our 6th stop on the TFRR 2011 TX trail and a big fish factory, club 5 fish record (19lbs+) was caught here. now this area is a pool in the peconic river system, shallow,narrow and weedy. now on this day the river was low(they use boards to regulate the river on each pool(section) and they recently just did a weed pull up on the section above and guess they wanted to make sure everything ran down river to the ocean.
we had 6 boats and 10 anglers so we did our shotgun draw before the TX started and we had some interesting pairing plus this was a 5 fish team event. found out by fishing and hearing the other anglers that it was a tough day and hot!
comming in 3rd was the team of nunz and Greg with 3 fish for 5.41lbs. taking 2nd was the team of Mandel and Ken with 3 fish for 5.82lb and Mandel had lunker with a 3.42lb largemouth. rumor had it is ken had a toad of a bass in the well and after a short stay it checked out and hit the road

. ken wasn't a happy camper

. and taking 1st was Fred and myself with 5 fish for 9.78lb. our day wasn't as tough as the other anglers we did cull and was catching some short fish. good job guys, we have 2 TX left on the trail and should be a tight race for AOY. see you all at the Ronkonkoma lake night TX on 8/20/11.

Hey Ray, great job with the pics. Did you and Fred catch fish by that waterfall? Just curious. I've fished that area from shore a few times in the past. It looks great, but i never caught anything there.
