New project boat

Hey Guys......just bought a 76  skeeter wrangler with a 150 merc.  lots of work to get done.  My question is, I have no idea when this motor was last run.  Any tips on what to do before I even think about hooking up a battery to it?  I know the motor is not seized but thats all.  I wouldnt want to ruin it before i even try it........thanks for any help.
