I've been reading on here for  about a week now as I'm considering purchasing a Tracker 175 or 190 at some time in the next year. I grew up in FL fishing for bass when I was a kid and flats fishing redfish and seatrout while I was in high school and college. Sold my flats boat to a buddy and now I live in Missouri, so fishing the flats regularly is no longer an option ???. So I'm looking to get back on the water and have looked at the trackers.

I've seen a few posts about guys with the 175 getting a new CG plate rated for 90hp, but I think this is only possible on certain year models. Anybody know which years this applies/doesn't apply? Prob going to buy new next spring unless I come across the right used deal.

my 175 is a 2010 and its rated  a 90 but the 09 and the 011 is rated 75 :)

I wonder why there's a difference. The hulls look to be the same.

i thank its because it was the last year of the 90 elpto and they wanted to get them out and if the 2011 was rated for the 90 nobody would buy the 190tx that comes standard with the 90 and because if the 175 was rated for 90 everyone would spend a little more and get the 90 and they will have alot of 75s left so with the 175 rated for 75 and the 190 comes with a 90 they sell a little bit of everyting thats what i thank

Mine is an 08 175txw, the plate in the boat says 75hp but the manufactures statement of origin says it is rated for a 90hp. From what I understand I can get the plate changed, all I would have to do is contact the Coast Guard and give them some info about the boat.

Does anybody have any idea if the 2011's plate can be upgraded?

If I end up buying new it makes so much more sense to get a 175 with a 90hp rather than a 190 w/ a 90hp.

thats what I'm saying i rather have the max moter because the 190 is way under powered with the 90 unless you want to spend a lot more money and get the 190 with the 135 but with that kind of money you can get a glass boat

fish bone, that's exactly what I've been trying to weigh out and consider. When I talked to one of the tracker guys at Bass Pro a few weeks ago he said they could put a 115hp on the 190, but he said it only gives you a couple more mph over the 90hp. I thought you could see speeds into the low 50's with the 115hp/190 but I guess not. Besides the fact that it would cost a lot more I can't see the 190 really having an advantage over the 175.

I'm guessing that the 175 with a 75hp on the back gets about the same speed as a 190 w/ a 90hp. So that will likely be the route I go. If I could put a 90hp on a new 175 then that would be ideal.

A 190/90 opti with a JP and good prop will do high 40's GPS with a light load.
190/115 opti same will do mid to high 50's.
A 175/75 opti with a JP and good prop will do mid 40's GPS with a light load.
175/90 opti will do low 50's same set up/light.

Getting a new coast guard tag is not an easy procedure and the coast guard has NOTHING to do with it. The manufacturers tag trumps the coast guard formula which would allow the 175 to have a 125 hp motor based on transom width etc IIRC.

If you have your MSO and it says 90 then you have something to work with.....but the only place to get a new tag is from tracker and they wont send it to you. THEY have to attach it to the hull. Just an FYI.

BTW i think the 190 with a 115 Pro XS is the best performance set up.

i would think with the 190 the 125hp would be the best sense it weighs the same as the 115
