I know lots of guy's use the rod covers, which are NICE and work great. Something I do and some of
you may do as well,,I take my line about center of the rod and wrap it around the rod until all of the
sack line is taken up and then just loop the line around the eye on the rod. Makes getting the rod
from the bottom of the locker a lot easier.

I did that as well.  But i really like using the rod protectors better.  Otherwise the eyes still seem to get tangled up, hung on a something etc...  I hate having to pull two or three rods out at the same time cause there all messed up.  Plus the rods dont bang gaingst each other when im driving down the road or lake.

I have seen the wrap method used, but the rod gloves work much better, and now I have started using the slip on technique names which make grabbing a rod even easier

I was given a BPS rod sock for xmas last year. I figured I'd give it a try and after seeing how that ONE rod sock made my 8 rods/reels easier to access from the locker, I went and bought 4 more.  Having half the rods socked has made my locker a lot more "user friendly". They're inexpensive, too.

As I don't have a rod locker in my boat I have not found it nessessery to buy and use the rod socks. I always use the wrapping idea that FF mentioned. It works great!

Thanks for posting your idea FF  ~c~

Wrapped my line for years just like FishingFranklin says.... have rod gloves now and still do it  :-*  Wrapping the line pins the bait against the reel or rod and helps prevent it from sticking you or things while moving around in the rod box or your vehicle :-*

#yep, have a sock for everyone of my 11 rods, #12 is a swimbait rod but haven't put one on yet.  They all have rod floats as well just case, as I've lost rods and bait more than once over the side and never got them back
