Got to thinking when you get a new car you can get floor mats to keep carpet looking new. Why not for boats. Had some indoor outdoor carpet i got very cheap from Lowes that i used for bunk boards. Was able to cut one piece about 24 in by 5ft to fit in bottom of boat. Doesn't have to fit perfect. Keeps those muddy foot prints off boat carpet and is easy to pull out and hose off. Put a piece under hot foot for that heavy wear spot, careful you don't end up with a Toyota problem with carpet holding down throttle. You can make two or three mats depending on boat size and layout.

Oldjim, I like this idea. After fishing this past weekend in torrential rain conditions, the ground around the slope area turned into a mudbath, so now my black carpet is now a muddy sandy mess.

Thanks for posting this, I'll be getting a piece of carpet put in my boat right away  :-* ~c~ ~c~

When I launch I throw down a towel and step/wipe my feet off.  Works for me.
