Any suggestions as to what type of swim bait hooks (weighted) to use?  This past Saturday I did some experimenting with both the plain screw in type and the screw in with the pin and I am doing something wrong as I couldn't get neither of them to screw in tightly and ruined a couple of swim baits in the process.  Did get a few really good hits but couldn't hook 'em up.  There's always next time though.

I use both the screw in type and the offset type similar to an EWG hook in sizes 5/0 to 8/0.  Both work well, but I have to give a slight edge to the offset EWG style that Gamakatsu makes as they do not seem to tear up the nose of the soft swim baits as easily as the ones with the screw-in wire.

In either case a drop or two of "Mend-it" will repair those kind of tears in a matter of seconds.

Thanks and what is "mend it"?  Never have seen it before.

You can find it at lots of tackle retailers...it repairs tears and rips in plastic baits...comes in handy when dealing with those expensive soft bodies lol...I really like the beast hook from owner. It has a nice gap and it texposes well and has a really really sharp point...I like the weighted hooks hefts than standard ewg hooks. To me the weight helps keep the larger swimbaits on plane plus you can work different depths of water a little more effectively...my $.02

Mend-it is a new type of glue that chemically welds soft plastics back together without leave a hard spot behind like super glues do.  I believe several of the UB sponsors carry it and if all else fails Google it for more information.
