I know that I have posted a thread on this before, but I have been doing some watching and listening.  The more I hear about fishing a jig the more I hear about people preferring using a Double Tail Grub as to a craw trailer.  I watched a DVD with Gerald Swindle and he was talking about using the dbl tail grub because the action was better with it but it still imitated the craw fish. He liked the action better because the "legs" on the grub had more action than say a paca craw or chiggar craw.

Tell me what you guys have found to be best for you.  I have an order of dbl tail grubs in watermelon red, green pumkin and black neon coming from bass pro to give them a try.

Thanks for all the info and help guys!

I have also run into the same dilemma, a lot of people use the twin tail GY grub from spring to fall, and a lot of people use craw trailers like the rage craw. I assume you have to figure out on the water what they like and adapt to the situations. I've just started jig fishing last year so have yet to come up with hard fast rules for myself.
I hate hard water.

I do ocasionally use a Twin tail grub, But I still prefer a paca chunk or a Berkely Chigger chunk most of the time.

I love the Rage Tail Craws.  Their action is incredible, but sometimes you may want a more subtle action than a Rage or a double-tailed grub provide.  I have some trailers from SiebertOutdoors.com that I use when I want more subtle action.

I have used the dbt grubs and was happy with them I do prefer the rage tail craws the most when looking for swimmin action with my jigs, as they say time on the water will tell! good luck.
retired! now there is more time to fish!

Paca chunk and berkley chigger craw crazy legs with the body cut in half to make it more like a chunk bait.

That's really the point of trying different things, there are no hard & fast rules when it comes to bass! You have to let them tell you what they want, some days they'll want more action, some days less. It's best to have a few different baits that you have confidence in using, and provide a range of action to compliment the jig.  :)

I use chunks more than anything, but have other baits just in case' even a few packs of dbl grubs & spider grubs!  ;)

Really like the Chompers baby craw hawg.  As good as Yamamoto , last better and a whole lot cheaper.

I'm new in the Jig game, but i've only been throwing my jig with a Zoom pumpkin/chart claw craw, cut just above the front pair of legs... and it's been working pretty well.

I used to use Paca's, just got irritated on how easy the claws ripped off on short strikes. I talked to my local guy who pours them (Outdoor Advantage) and they got me these. Best part is I get them scented!

I use trailers that look like a crawfish (that have appendages that look like claws) when I work a jig on the bottom.
When I pitch or flip it, or even swim it, I prefer to use trailers that have a better action, like grubs, double-tail grubs, and high-vibrating paddle-tail lures like the LFT hyper Freak or baby hyper freak
Sorry for my english!

I like and use both V&M's Mud Bug and Gary Yamamoto Double Tail Grub.  The Grub I prefer on my swim jigs.  Mud Bug preferred on flipping jigs.

Thanks for all the info guys!  I'm going to fish a tourney on saturday with my dad (because I don't have a boat of my own) and will definitely put this input to good use.  Again, THANK YOU!!!

When I want to slow the fall of my jig and give it alot of action I use a Zoom super speed craw.  It is awesome as a trailer on swim jigs too.  It has a lot of action and the bass love it.  Give them a try and you will be impressed.

I must say that using the Dbl Tail grub was a success! Caught about 9 on it.  Thanks for the help!
