Anyone have any experience with the 5" money minnows? I just bought the bluegill and pearl/chartreuse ones and they swim perfectly and have great action but I wasn't able to be on the lake long enough to really give them a chance. Also, is it normal for baitcasters to make a low noise when casting bigger baits such as swim baits. It sounds like the noise is coming from so much pressure on the line as it comes off the spool but I'm not sure. It does it with my Pflueger Cetina and my new Shimano Citica. One has 14lb Trilene XL and the other has 15lb P-Line CX. Thanks for any input.

Have used the Money monnow for a while now with no problems and have caught some nice fish on them.  The slit in the belly makes rigging the baits easier.  I use Revo reels with either 30 lb braid or 17 lb Trilene XT and they make no more noise throwing heavy baits then they do with light weight baits.

I've had good luck with the 5" in Foxy shad on the Yum swimbait hooks, and I like to use the 3.5" as a swim jig trailer.  The 5" might look a little big, but I've caught 12" bass on that bait.  I think it looks awesome in the water, and they are a little pricey but worth it in my opinion.

I really like them too. Haven't had good luck with them in cooler water. For me, them seem to be a warm water bait, so waiting for the temps to rise... Hadn't heard any noises - usually use a BPS Johnny Morris Sig 6:4 reel with them.

I've been looking for them here but not much luck yet,,, thought Yum bought them out from someone else but don't remember.

As far as your reels,,, sounds to me like they need to be cleaned, talk to Pro Reel, if you can't send them off he will be able to help figure out what you need to do.   :-*

I have the same Shimano and when I cast crankbaits it makes the same sound.

I love the money minnow. You can find them at Academy on sale for $6.99 or less sometimes, thich helps the pocketbook...In my experience it has drawn strikes from the smallest predatory fish, even bluegill and goggle-eye.  And not to mention those dang chain-pickerel... lo
