All,

Where has everyone gone?   :-\  We only had 16 members fish this past Saturday? :shocking:  We are the largest division in the Nation with 63 members yet every year our numbers fall of a cliff at the end of the season.  As it sits right now we do not have enough members who have qualified to max out the points for the 2 day.  We need 20 anglers to get full points.  I just can't believe out of 63 we can't accomplish that.  Guys, this is the ONLY local tournament trail that is Nationally recognized.  The payback is good, the door prizes are great, and you qualify for a National Championship with a payout over $200,000?  With one tournament remaining in Division 48 there are only 16 that fished 4 events and qualified for the 2 day championship.

For those of you with 2 tournaments; you do not have to have all 4 of your tournaments in the same division.  The AFT allows you to fish any division anywhere in the US with your membership.  You can fish 1 tournament in 4 different states if you want and still be eligible for any 2 day championship.

Division 98 has a tournament on 26 March at lake D'Arbonne.  Division 53 has a tournament April 10th on Sam Rayburn, and another on April 23rd at Toledo Bend.  You can fish any one of these events to get your 4th tournament on the books and fish the 2 day championship with division 48 on the Red River.

I want everyone to know we were greeted with a surprise and a smile by an individual who has had some health issues lately but battled back, and we were fortunate enough to see him this past weekend.  Welcome back Dale Murphy!  ~c~ ~c~ ~c~  Dale suffered a massive heart attack a couple months ago and had a quintuple by pass.  He is slowly gaining his strength back and I knew he would be back on the water as soon as he could.  Dale is a life member of ABA and from what his records show he has been fishing the AFT for 10 years.  He has fished a total of 104 AFT tournaments since becoming a member in 2001 with 45 top 10 finishes, 18 top 5 finishes, 4 wins, and has attended the National Championship 5 times.  He is the longest active member in our area with ABA and it was a great surprise to see him back on the water.  Welcome back Dale! ~c~ ~bb

Our next tournament is on Black Lake Hosston, Saturday April 16th 2011,  Hwy 2 Public Ramp.  April is probably one of the best months of the year to fish this lake (with no slot) and the fish bite VERY well.  Statistics from years past in another club I used to fish have the proof.  Thank you to those who made it out last Saturday!

While I didn't get to BS with him it was fantastic to see Dale at the tournament :toot:

Come on folks, ABA is fun, fare, and good pay out for the inexpensive entry Fee. I have a great time fishing these.
