When I lived in NJ and fished mainly the southern portion.  I rated them my best catch of Bass, Starting with #1- Menantico Ponds Fish & Game Management,  #2-Daretown Lake, #3- Malaga Lake, #4- Elmers Lake, #5- Willow Grove Lake, #6- Laurel Lake, and #7- Franklinville Lake. Now if you want great Chain Pickerel try the Pine Barrens, like Basto Lake, hope this helps anyone!

When I was living in N.J. [ born & raised there ] in north Jersey , Lake Hopatcong produced good fish if you knew where to fish .
Fishing early before heavy boat traffic was a must, also decent for Trout.

Oh Yeah..most definitely.  The smallie population has really rebounded.  The Largemouth Bass have progressively gotten better.

Check out these results from this years Open Buddy T.

White Lake in Blairstown.
This cool place holds some nice bass and has a crazy white mineral bottom. It was just in the weird NJ magazine....great area. Awesome German Deli in downtown across by the Blairstown Diner. Just look out for Jason Vorhees.  Lmao
