Sonar screen cleaning?

What do you use to clean the screens on your sonar units?

Mine has gotten really bad with water spots & finger prints and I cannot find my cleaner or remember the brand name. It came in a small pump spray bottle & came with a small microfiber cloth.

There was a great tip in the tips section about this. It mentioned vinegar and other things. It sounded great. Jim

Windex multi-purpose with vinegar. I don't have it in front of me, it is out in the boat! I also used a water/vinegar mix. And get a micro-fiber towel to clean it with.

Windex Multi-Surface with Vinegar is what Humminbird recommends you can get a big bottle for a couple bucks at Big Box Store. It won't damage protective anti-glare coatings on lens.

I just use regular unscented wet wipes/baby wipes followed by drying with a regular tissue. I just did mine yesterday and it's looking good.

A new company (Wave Away) markets a screen cleaner. Best screen cleaner I've used.

I have also heard the wave away is great but I also use a wet wipe and it works great, and cleans the hands at the same time.

On a show of the bass pros a few months ago, they used plain vinegar to remove the calcium water spots. He soked a towel in vinegar and then just eld it on the screen in more of a dabbing motion so as not to scratch the screen with the calcium. He pre cleaned the screen of dust before but I can't remeber what he used for that, I think it was a regular cleaner

This was what I wass thinking of. I thought i saw it on UB, but I think you're correct Pro Reel. The important thing I came away with was to just dab at the screen at first , because tha calcium hard water spots are capable of scratching the screen.

+1 on the windex with vinager...it takes a couple of times but it gets it clean.
i started using vinager and water to wipe the boat down after fishing and it shines like new. our lake is all limestone so the spots can get pretty bad.

Was at Sam's Club just recently and in there Eye Care center they had some lens cleaner in a two pack for like $5 or so.......it works dang good and dont have a problem getting the water spots off.

Go to www.invisashield.com get a cover for the screen and then you can clean it with sandpaper if you want and it will be clear as if nothing is there

Proreel and bassindude I think that was Stacey King that did the screen cleaning thing you saw. His formula was two drops of regular dish soap in a two ounce spray bottle then fill with vinegar and yes dabbing was also recomended.

microfiber cloth and a light spritz of alcohol at the end of each outing. then I put the cover back on for storage.
