998 Power cable wiring?

Another dumb question....Should I wire the 998 directly to the starting battery with an in line fuse or should it be wired into a fuse panel? I'm putting it on an 07 Skeeter SX 190. If wired to the fuse panel, is there a place where I can find instructions on how to do that?

I would wire both. Put the online fuse on then run wire to fuse panel. Double insurance. Look on your fuse panel. If there is an empty slot your covered. Run the ground to the grounding post. There's usually just one. Then run your positive wire to the empty slot. Plug in a fuse and your good to go

I recommend running direct to the battery. Some boats do not have ample wire gauge to supply enough current to the unit and low current can create issues. IF you need to extend use 14-16 Gauge MultiStrancd Wire.
