You may want to post this on the MD board as well.   I fish the electric only lakes in maryland and have done so for a long time.  In my fishing club, Reservoir Anglers of Maryland we have Torqeedo 48 volt motors, Ray 48 Volt and Ray 60 Volt.

I have a 17 ft Tracker Grizzly, all decked out with wood and aluminum, its a fairly heavy boat and with the Torqeedo 48 volt my boat will gps just a hair under 7 MPH.  I am making a few adjustments right now which should put me at 7mph this season.  I am partial to the Torqeedo 48 volt because of price and technology.  They are the quiet as a mouse, fast and efficient.  Brand new you can find them for $3500.   Keep in mind a new Ray 36, 48 or 60 volt is pushing $7K.  Thats a big difference.  The Rays are awesome though. They are workhorses for sure and will not dissapoint.  I just cant pay double for something that doesnt provide any benefit.  My 48 Torqeedo is faster then the 48 volt rays and not far off the 60 volts.

As far as the other motors, Reservoir Runner, Minn Kota, etc...  I have seen them and they dont in my opinion compare to the Ray or Torqeedo.  Some of them are deafening loud and from what I have seen, slow.

If you are looking for a really nice budget motor that also eliminates weight, the Torqeedo 24 volt is awesome.  You wouldnt believe how much power their 24 volt puts out. There is hands down not another 24 volt that evens comes close.  My buddy pushes his 16 ft triton 5 mph gps with this motor.

My boat is under construction in the Bass Club Section on Ultimate Bass.  Go to the RAM board and look for boat construction.  Im doing a little updating on my boat, carpet, new hatches, jack plate, batteres etc...

Craigslist has a few nice boats for sale in the Maryland area.   Hope this helps.
