I got an 1197c today. Whoooooot!!! The problem is where to to mount it on a ZX225. I am using the large Ram Mount.

One more question...  It came with a transom Transducer. Should I get a threw hull?

I might be about to get one if I can get it for the right price.  I would definetely flush mount in at the console...okay that was a joke, but I would put it at the console (just to the right - mount the mount on the fiberglas).  I would get the puck type transducer because that has the best sensitivity and picture.  Humminbird's sonar isn't amazing, so the extra power from the puck style will help it out some.  I'm new to this, so correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

Get you a Transducer Shield and Saver to mount the transducer

Then add the XP 9 20 Transducer for all-Speed 2D readings and epoxy in hull to shoot thru with the AS SI DB Y Cable to complete the install. THis will give you all speed 2D readings and SI and DI off plane speeds.

Thanks very much.... Looks like the way to go.

I agree.. I'll have to bookmark this for when it's time to install mine.  Thanks!

I hate waiting on products....... I ordered the transducer shield and saver. It shipped today. I ordered just what j.davis posted. Doug looking at your site it has a link to get the latest Humminbird software updates. Can you update it before you put it in your boat..... <--noob

First you need to check the unit to see what version it has on the unit. It may have the most current version depending on the date of manufacture. They use the latest version the day it's manufactured so might not need updating just depend how long in distribution and it sat on the shelf at the retailer.

But if you do once you get power to the unit. Register the  SN online at www.humminbird.com and download the latest software and install. If it's the current version it will ask if you want to replace the same version number no need to if it's the same.

Doug,
Which RAM mount is that? I'm getting a 998 tomorrow. Which mount would you recommend?
It's going on a Skeeter SX190.
Thanks,
Matt
Theres a bump....

That's the RAM D-111U-C with 2.25" Ball and the unit won't move.
