Most of you may remember my 1st tip, http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=69072.0 making a camera mount for your boat or field. It worked great for my last boat because it was small and out of the way. Yesterday I wanted to take a picture of a fish on my new boat and only thing I could do was set the camera on my front seat and hope it didn't fall over when I hit the timer. Well after running the brain a bit last night I came up with a new plan.
Now for different pedestal mounts, the size of pvc or pipe may differ, but with some sand paper (for the pvc not your boat) it can happen.
Here is my rear seat mount

Most boats have a recessed hole, with some sanding (again on the pvc not the boat) or an adapter this will still work.

1. Parts: Proper size bolt, washers and 2 nuts(I went all stainless). Length of PVC (diam and length may vary for your application), pvc end cap and mine needed a coupler to fit.

2. Take the pvc cap and drill a straight hole in the center. Then put the bolt through with a washer and nut already on (this will help with adjusting the height of the bolt for the camera to screw on)

3. Assemble all pieces and test fit. Note: test fit all pieces and bolt height BEFORE cementing the PVC together! Notice the adapter fits right over my seat mount, it is snug so it will stay in place and can be removed for running.

4. Install camera and take a pic. If it is to high, cut off the pvc to the right length. This is why I said don not cement them together yet lo

Total cost, about $4
Hope you are able to use and enjoy!

DB, I actually use and love your first idea that you posted, but with my new boat, making one like this PVC pipe version would be better. Thanks for the idea  :-* :-* ~c~

Glad to see the original getting used still. I think this one will be just as versatile.
