I have started messing around with some crankbait painting. My question is, what colors are good to keep on hand? Maybe a starter kit of colors you guy think are a must have. Also what brands do you prefer, and water or lycer base. Thanks, Ronzo

I like Createx paints because they're water-based, cheap, and non-toxic.  Plus they come in a pretty wide range of colors.

The two colors you have to have are white and black, and in larger quantities than your other paint.  White and black are used on practically every paint pattern (excluding translucent patterns), and you'll go through them faster than other colors.  You'll want to get at least 4 ounce bottles of white and black, or even bigger.

I also use a lot of pearl white and pearl silver on my baits, so I also get 4 ounce bottles of them.

You should get other colors according to the patterns you want to paint.  I mainly get 2 ounce bottles of the other colors I use, but if you plan on using a lot of one color it will be cheaper in the long run to get bigger bottles.

I hope this helps.
