Heads Up!

There are bunches of new signs that have been placed on the face of the Dam over the last month or so, that read, "Stay Back 500 ft!"

The Colorado State Parks is issuing citations on a regular basis for entering within the realm of the Pueblo Reservoir Dam "Keep Out!" zone, starting a month ago!  I know!  I was yelled at and told to meet them at the Southern ramp and discussed the issue in detail, for being within what they say was 30+ yards of the rip-rap.  Tickets start at $52 and could go higher dependent upon on your attitude!  The Federal guys were actually there on site supervising our state guys and making sure they were enforcing the issue!

Their interpretation is to stay outside the buoy line on the face of the Dam and 500 ft from the corners(170 yards) and staying out 100 ft away from the rip-rap.  That means we can start at the rounded corners on the rip-rap and go parallel down the face of the rip-rap, across the front of the Dam, but no going towards the inside corners from now on.

They may be getting ready for the Southern Delivery System to the Springs, perhaps.
