Homemade Locker Rod - Cheap!

So I bought me a triton boat and did not recieve a key to the compartments. Ive tried everything from peoples boat keys to looking at buying all new locks (expensive! )... so I went to home depot and bought some metal side slots, one steel rod ( 6ft )... and a masterlock. Drilled a one inch hole in each side of boat, screwed in plates, inserted rod, drilled hole for lock, and locked it down. Keep in mind one of these side slots has a hole all the way though, so you can slide rod in 4 inches and come back an inch to fit in the one inch slot in the other side. The lock hole was drilledflush with lip of boat so there is no movement at all. The steel rod doesnt bend and compartments will not come up but maybe 1/2 inch or so. Not enough to get a hand in, and that is all that matters. Total spent at home depot ($21.00). Total time - 15 minutes. Any questions, please feel free to ask!

ok, scratch that... I just found out which one works!!!! Ill post some pics up by tomorrow for you guys!! until then, check out the two I just posted in Catch of the day... nothing monster, but fun to catch!!! one of them shook his head, hooked me deep in the palm, and then shook again and ripped it out! Just that fast!!! it hurt.. and the only thing I thought in my head was he LITERALLY pulled a Catch and release on ME!!!

Yea that will be fine! I forgot to get pics up and in Florida right now on vacation. Going to do some deep sea fishing for the first time. When I get back I'll post some pics of locking rod and some pics of whatever bites the hook from the ocean!
