Whenever trailering my boat, my motor turns on me, even with the transom saver hooked up. I recently greased the turning mechanism on the motor. Could this be an issue with the transom saver, or just that the motor is turning much easier now that it greased? It is a 06 Tracker pro team 175 with a 60hp 2 stroke Merc.

Your motor is turning easier now that you've greased it up.

It's not going to hurt anything to have the motor turned other than your motor toter won't fit as well as it did before.

If I were you, I'd simply get used to setting the motor all the way over to the side before trailering it down the road, or get a bungee cord and see if you can secure the steering wheel to prevent the motor from falling over.

But while it's not attractive, it's not going to damage anything.

I had the same problem with a Yamaha 250. Cutting two short sections of plastic pipe, and making a slit big enough to put over the hydraulic steering rods, keeps the motor straight. works great.

I have an 04 pt175. I just use a bungee cord through the steering wheel/dash, and no problems.

I used to do the same thing with my duck boat that had a 50 Johnson...easy and cheap and it works
