I can't say what's the best place to fish down there, but there are several options. It really depends on the size of your boat & what type of fishing you're willing to do. There are several ponds down there that have bass & panfish in them, and Delaware river & bay is not far, so saltwater species are nearby. Even driving up to Seaford to fish the Nanticoke would not be that far to go. Lots of options for you if you have the time to explore them.

The Broadkill River flows right thru town, and Reynolds, Wagamons, Diamond, & Waples Mill pond are all near Milton. Down towards Lewes is Red Mill pond. North of Milton in Milford is Silver Lake, Griffiths Lake, and Haven Lake. There's also access to the Mispillion River right in Milford.

Hope this helps!  :)

I have a little 17' nitro bass boat with a 75 on the back. I Will not have a ton of time to explore everything in that area, I really wish I could though. Last year when I was down there I checked out what I believe was the Mispillion River, I found a boat launch by the police station. I may check that out. I would really like to fish one of the ponds around that area, if they allow boats of my type. There are tons of places around there. Lookin to tear into some bass.

Brandon, I've never had the opportunity to fish down there. My work takes me in the area often, so I'm very familiar with it. I know the boat ramp you're talking about, that is the Mispillion River in Milford.

I've heard that Red Mill is the best pond for bigger bass, but don't know what kind of access is there. I have sometimes seen a lot of boats on Haven Lake in Milford. US 113 crosses right at one end of the lake. Waples Mill Pond is right on DE RT 1. I've only seen small jon boats, kayaks & canoes on it. I don't think there is much of a launch ramp there.

Access to both Haven Lake & Griffiths is off of DE RT 14. There is a side road by the Southern States. I've seen the signs many times as I pass by, but have never been down that road, so don't know what the ramps are like.

Good luck with it! I hope you can give a report on what you find!  :)

Never made it out to any of the DE waters. Fished a small club tx on the marshy hope, which didnt treat me too well...Had no desire to go out exploring after that day. I will be back down there later in the year though. I would like to check some of the places out that were mentioned...I need to make friends with someone who has access to red mill pond...that place looks like it would be a decent fishery

Being local here are some other ponds you should look at are, Millsboro Pond, Ingrams Pond which is near Millsboro. Chippmans Pond near Laurel . All of these are pretty good this time of year. Close friends have been on Chippman recently, and have done well. The ponds mentioned have good ramps and at least fair parking.Red Mill Pond is an awesome fishery, but all access is private and gated. Hope this is a help.
