I just read this article but not sure how to take this one.  I have mixed feelings about the direction of B.A.S.S/ESPN.  I am not a Federation member but sure looks like a mess.

Federation isn't where the money is so I don't have a good feeling about where ESPN is going to take it :'( But if you keep a close watch around here there is going to be some ground breaking news for the club fisherman :-*

I believe that ESPN/BASS would be crazy to alienate the local club fishermen.  There goes TV viewership right out the window.  No one watches the shows, no sponsors buy commercials,  ESPN makes no money, and the whole ship sinks.  There's got to be more to the story than we've gotten.  I know if BASS leaves the club angelr high and dry, I won't ever watch a show on ESPN.  The club is the very foundation of the BASS.

Here is a link to the Open Letter that is referenced in the BassFan.com article.

They are very careful to use Ray Scott's name multiple times in this article... I'm going to wait and see what happens with this.

I believe that the ESPN/BASS feathers were ruffeled earlier this year when ESPN/BASS were trying to ignore the P.A.A. and the federation had meetings with the Reps of the P.A.A. and the story was that the P.A.A. would be supported by the federation.

There are some big issues goin on with the Fed.  I know the rep from the north east that was one of the ones that had his membership revoked from Bass.  I know he can't comment on what's goin on but he has said alot of things going on right now.  Doesn't sound too good.

I don't like what has been going on with BASS since ESPN became involved.  I started pulling out last year by taking on another circuit to fish.  Next season, I plan to fish two districts with Midwest Sportsman along with my club Ts but have no interest in going to regionals for federation any more.

Plus, the future announcement Mike was talking about already has my interest.   :toot:

Now if I can get Legend Bass Boats to give me a very healthy break on the price of a boat, I'm in business!   :-*

PAPA I disagree. We need the Federation. What we don't need is the way BASS ( who doesn't own the Federation) is trying to bully and dictate the way the Federation is run. The Fed has its own members and on sponsors. Without BASS the Fed could continue. Right now 50,000 members @ $15 is $750,000. Thats alot to me and you, but a drop in the bucket to BASS/ESPN. I think they are intentionally trying to run off the Federation to save themselves some extra work and a little money at the same time.

I don't think we need the federation anyway.
They act like they are giving us the whole enchilida with Bass times , which is just the Bass magazine in a newspaper form , whoopee.
When people start trying to dictate to me I am off for another game.
papa

Bassin Billy I totally agree with you . I went back and read what I wrote after I saw your responce and could not believe what I wrote , I meant to say (we do not need BASS) in order to have the federation.
Thanks for pointing that out.

That was very interesting.  I will add that I am glad we do not allow the personal slamming that is allowed on that other site.

I agree with the personal slamming thing but I thought some of us might want to see what Robert had written to the Federation members.
