Is there any map that shows the areas in pool 4?  I know there are the AIDS map but want to know the name of the areas or if someone has a copy they can email me. Thanks.

Mike Cork

Best map I ever seen was the Corp of Engineers! But I don't recall if it had names. With some artistic ability I could draw a map or better yet would be to sit down with you over a breakfast.

Anything in particular your looking for?

I would eat breakfast over this but i think we are a little to far apart. lo I'll be fishing it this month and never set foot in pool 4 and read the reports on here and just don't know the places much less the name. Not wanting to know the secret spots but some tips on what to look for, baits for this time of year, also can you run your boat in these places or idle only, etc. Just some pointers. Or was just thinking maybe some pinpoints from Google Earth via email. I would email a PDF of the topo map and somone can tag the places via the program but i believe the file will be to big to email. Heck i'll even take one of your artistic maps. ;D It's better than what i have.

What are you doing this comming Sunday? Our Club, Twin Cities Team Club is launching in pool 4, you could meet us at weigh in and get some great info to include what the money winners were doing. We make them tell all before they get the cash :-* We'll be going out of Cashuatta

Maybe a phone call while you both were looking at www.flashearth.com. It shows GPS coordinates where google doesn't. Just a thought. Mike knows the river better than me but I'll try to help if needed.

I hate to butt in on someone's else question, but i wouldnt mind knowing the names of these places and what name goes with which backwater that everyone up there talks about.

Mike Cork

I dropped the ball here. Couldn't figure out how to email a google earth photo and was going to sketch something out but got caught up in my daughters birthday party. A phone call would be a great idea and faster, I need to check out this link bassbuff

Just hit me... I could probably do a print screen while on google earth and attach it as a file, now to figure out how to draw on it?

Well I got the info i was looking for. I was able to the names with the places today. Now my next question; can you run the boat in these place or is it idle only?  I was able to follow a boat in the jungle so had an idea of where to go but Red oak and sullivans not sure. Any kind of help/tips on running the boats in these area.

Mike Cork

Sulivans is pretty easy running, I fish there alot and just shut down 50 yards from the stump line in the back. There is a ridge line just before them the comes up to 2-3 ft when the river is like it is now. What I do when heading to the back is shut down when the depth starts up.

As far as red oak I ran it yesterday? Idled in 50 yards off the tree line and seemed clear and had been told it was. Ran out no problems. I have been told to swing wide of the grass line as it can get very shallow.

That is correct. Haven't been there in several years now, but there were some stakes that showed where the shallow stuff came out to on the inside of the lake. Stay to the outside of the lake and I have never had a problem. Also, we have been scolded by GW about running the little canal into the lake-he didn't seem too impressed with coming through there on plane-lol.

The cut coming off of the river channel was pretty shallow. Of course I idle thru it and it was marking about 4 ft deep. I wouldn't want to run thru it just I case another boat was coming in at the same time.
