Dont waste your money on punch skirts

I stumbled across this handy little item a couple months ago.

A punch hub

They are very inexpensive. They cost around 3 dollars for a 5 pack.

Punch skirts offer a larger profile when the fish want to see something bigger or when visibilty is poor and you want to put a bit more flash on the end of your line.

Simply slide a peg stop on your 30-80 lb braided line followed by a 3/8-11/2 oz tungsten weight, feed the line through the punch hub and tie it to a flippin hook of your choice. Then texas rig your favorite creature bait and slide it all together.

To aid in getting through the mat you can pitch high and give your line a small jerk to aim the bait and bust through the mat if needed. Give her a stroke or two but dont try to work the bait too much. This is a reaction technique for the most part. Make ALOT of flips!!!! I have caught good fish 5-10 feet from the boat in thick slop after working stationery for a good 20 minutes. You just gotta find 'em.

Note: Be sure to use stout and strong gear for this technique.

Dont forget guys, when you find a fish or two, analyze the area and try to replicate it on other parts or other mats. Also some of the holes got there from bass blow ups and may be a clue of big mommas house
