I am wondering what types of paints will work to be in contact with the water I dont want buy the special bottom paint. I was wondering if a simple exterior paint from home depot will do? and what color would ppl recommend to paint the outside of the boat?

I did this after I 1st bought my boat actually (it was 4 different colors, not on purpose lol). I used a flat exterior house paint to paint the entire bottom olive drab green (I'm also a duck hunter). I primed it 1st with rattle can primer that was safe for aluminum, then rolled the bottom with a 4" roller and a small brush around the ribs. Never had a problem myself. One perk was it went on nice and thick, so beaching the boat on sand weekly never wore through the paint.

you can get it at Cabelas, but its cheaper if your order throught the company!  alot of people like this, and it is made for jon boats.  it come in flat greay and thats what im using.  it cost just as much as any other paint.  a gallon will do like 6-7 coats if you spray it on.  but you can roll it on or brush it on.

I just painted mine a couple weeks ago, and used automotive paint (gloss black).  Just buy some self etching primer from an auto parts store and spray that on in the spray can, and then a paint gun if you have one for the color.  You dont necessarily have to clear coat after if you dont want to, but I wanted mine to shine out of the water, so I put a coat on.  Good luck!
