I was on BPS website and looking at the seats in the front of a bass boat by the trolling motor. I was wondering if someone could explain to me all that I need for a seat in the front. Its all confusing on there. Sorry if this is a newbie question.  ::)

Not sure what you're asking, but sounds like you're adding a seat to a jon? If so, you need the base plate, which mounts to the deck, the pedestal pole, and your seat. You may also need the swivel base for the seat if it doesn't come with it.

Depending on how you're setting it up, my advise would be to use the largest diameter base plate you can afford, as this will distribute the load over a wider area of your deck, and the poles come in different lengths, so choose one that best fits your body build, and how you intend to fish. For example, my jon has a front seat with an 8" diameter base plate, and a 16 inch pedestal pole. On top, I have Wise brand high back seats. I'm tall, 6'4", and about 220 lbs, so I like the longer pole length, and the seats are comfortable enough for me to sit in all day if need be. Most of the time I stand, but sometimes you just have to sit down, especially us older guys!  ~gf  lo

I hope this answers your question!  ::)

I have a jon boat that is 53" wide and I used a pedastal type seat.  I replaced a standard seat so I put a new base on top of the existing base.  I has been that way for 10 years with zero issues.
