I have a 1980 cajun mach II that I've had for 3 years.  Since I have bought the boat there is no aerator in the livewell.
Does anyone know what kind of aerator originally came with this boat?  Or the best way to put a new one in it?

Did it come with an aerator system? Had a friend of the family that bought one of these new and I know his did, I'm sure it wasn't an option or anything. You should be able to see the pumps in the back compartment. Pull the pump and take it to your local dealership (any boat dealer) and have them match it up for you.

Ok, I figured it out.  There is a sump pump to pump water out of the boat and a pump to pump lake water through hoses and garden hose faucets into the livewells.  I thought this pump was only to fill the livewells but it is the aerator also.
There is a switch on the front with a timer.  The switch says manual, constant on or auto witch is the timer.  The timer has min or max.  The timer turns the pump on in the back at regular intervals to pump lake water into the front and back livewells thus providing aeration and fresh lakewater.  There are ports out the side of the boat to keep the livewells from overfilling to let the excess water out.
I didn't think the aerator switch and timer was hooked up to anything, I thought the aerator was missing.

Good deal, thanks for the detailed follow up. This will help the next person as well.  ~c~
