Depth Finder Blanks out on trolling motor

My buddy has an older Motor Guide Trolling motor and a hummingbird depth finder. I have tried both his depthfinders on my boat and have no problem with them. On his as soon as he hits the power button on the trolling motor he gets a scabled screen.

I am thinking he needs to run a power cord straight from the battery to the depth finder.

Anybody else had this problem and solved it???

Sounds like the TM is interfering with it for sure, now to find the reason why. If it is run off the TM power source, this can be the cause. Dirty connections, poor grounds, and having the depth finder power lines running parallel to the TM lines can all cause this. But I'd bet it's on the same power source.

Thatswhat I am tinkng too.  DF neeeds to be ran off the cranking battery The suden amp dra on the Tm side will shut it down.
