Just when I have gotten comfortable the tr-196 ( 26 pitch tempest, 25psi wot@ 66mph gps..... thinking that if I were to put on a 27 pitch I would get 70 with the same enging height?), anyhow everytime for the last few times its been my cranking battery? When I am out on the water and gps locates me and everything is good, I find the spot and shut off the main motor. The problem arises when I start up again, my lowrance unit flashes off. I am not understanding. This is a new battery and I charged it two days ago? Would adding another battery make life easier?

Sounds like the battery is not getting charged while running. Start the motor on some muffs and put a volt meter on the battery, it should read around 13v. If not, there's your culprit. Let us know what you find out.

I took the boat into the dealer and they found nothing. I suspect it was the Lowrance unit. Why???? Well it finally went out and I had to send it to lowrance and so I was a bit bummed and left the main power switch on and the boat cranks with no problem although its been in the garage for some time now. The lowrance unit would cut off when I used to restart the boat after a long run. Then one day it just would not come on.. at all. It would just bleep and the screen would be blank. The dealer checked every thing from the battery, engine and wiring.

Just curious but did you had a fuse installed between the main batt to the Lawrance unit, if so, was it blown?

No fuse that I know of, the boat dealer did mention a fusable link but said that it was ok and I think that was on the engine. The unit was getting power but the screen would just flash off.

What type of unit and model is it.
