We use the Bull Frog SPF 50 pump, with bug repellant added, as we fish a lot of Louisiana backwater.  Takes no time to apply, and keeps you from getting toasted.  Also always wear hat, polarized sun glasses, high SPF fishing shirts, and keep ice chest with plenty of water.  Even on the hotest of days, we are comfortable.

FYI: If you happen to get a sunburn: Try soaking a cloth in ice, water and vinegar in a bowl. I'm guessing half a cup of vinegar or more. Lay the cold vinegar compress on your skin/burn and wringing out as needed, replacing on your skin, repeatedly. I leave on until the cloth is hot and place in bowl again and repeat.
It will literally "draw" the burn out of your skin. The redness and the heat will disappear. No more sun burn! Truly amazing!  ~c~
