Hand Held GPS Units

I am thinking about getting a hand held GPS unit....It stores 500 waypoints and 20 reversible routes and has trackback.....If you own a hand held GPS unit I would love to hear your pros and cons on the subject....thanks in advance for your participation

I have the Garmin map 76csx and I have really enjoyed it. I use it a lot on my jet ski also. It is water proof and it also floats. I have the maping of the U S on a memory card and Lakes loaded on another one. Very versatile and easy to use. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks santee for your info.....How is it on lake GPS fishing spots are they hard to find
after you loaded them on the GPS unit......

Just about all of my fishing is done on the Santee Cooper lakes. It works great and shows all of the way points and fish attractors. It also show where there is cut timber and shallow water. I mostly use it on the jet ski but I have been well satisfied with it.

I used the iFinder by lowrance for a couple years. It's just like have the indash units now but it wasn't color and the screen was smaller.

Any way awsome tool! From waypoints to mark brushpiles to trails across a shallow flat dwfinately worth the money. Check out all the different companies and go with one that is going to fit your needs

I have a Lowrance I Finder H2O that I like a lot. I bought a Ram Mount and mounted it on the console of the boat where I plug it in to a cigarette lighter plug. It has proved itself to be invaluable on lakes that I was not familiar with. I use it with a Navionics chip that I highly recommend.

I fished with a friend who had a Humminbird 787 and I fell in love with it so I went out and bought the newer model, the 788 ci which I am in the process of installing on the boat. I will be selling the Lowrance, so let me know if you are interested.

I have a lowrance iFinder but would like to have a color H2O unit for hand held. I have LMS 160 with GPS in the boat.

On my last boat I used an I-Finder Pro in a Ram mount on the dash and a Garmin 72 with a Ram mount on the bow. Both have their strong and weak points. The I-Finder Pro has mapping and the black and white screen was easy to read in sunlight, but was not that accurate in finding an exact waypoint like a large underwater rock. The Garmin is water proof and floats, but does not have mapping, however is very accurate when looking for a small target waypoint like an big underwater stump or isolated rock or hump.
