Lowrance X96 vs Humminbird 565

Trying to decide between these two depthfinders (Lowrance X96 vs Humminbird 565).  Both are priced at $200 and seem to have good reviews.  It seems that the Humminbirds have been having a problem with moisture getting trapped in the screen.  Anyone use either of these or have any suggestions?  Thanks

The X96 uses the Eagle style "uni-connector" combonation transducer/power cable.
Later on you will be limited in upgrading to a newer unit. The X96 is the last current Lowrance unit using this setup. I doubt there will be any future Lowrance units made with it so you would be forced to change all the cables unless you buy Eagle.
The X125 is a decent unit and usues the most current cables and transducer.
I don't know about the HB but water penetration can happen with any brand. I do know HB customer service is pretty good.

For a $200 unit the 565 is a great one. I've never had an issue and use a 957 also.

I work at the BPS in Destin, fl and we sell more of the 565 than the x96 like 3 to 1.  I've seen one of the HB's come back with the moisture in it, but the customer left it on his boat all the time in the weather during the fall last year when it was getting cold at night and heating up in the afternoons.  Also, I like the backlighting on the HB better than the Lowrance.  I have had a handful of lowrance's and currently use them, but between the two of them, I would take the HB unit, also I think the HB has a few more pixels than the lowrance unit.  hope this helps some.

Bassman, that's probably a good decision. I don't think Lowrance is going to repair the X96 much longer if they havn't stopped already. They no longer fix the X87 so I've been told.
