new device to help clean reels

Like most married guys, my wife likes to buy all them things off the television, snack master, bread machine, iced tea makers....the list goes on. Then a few weeks later they get shelved and not used again. Well one thing that got shelved was a small steam generator/cleaner (the one that looks like a tea pot.) Well I took it and cleaned a couple of old reels with it and it did a wonderful job. it got the bearings nice and clean, plus the heat warms up the metal and the water evaporates quickly leaving a clean dry bearing ready for oil. It works on every part of the reel I have found.  Just make sure you use pliers or tongs or some type of securing system for the small pieces. you don't want to hit your hand with that steam. (don't ask how I know) 

These things are pretty portable and you can take them out to your boat and clean up the boat too. You know all them coffee spills, worm sent spills, splash well the list is endless. Hey if she don't want to use it any more, then I'll put it to use out in the shop. I bet it will clean the actions on my guns too.

Great tip!!  My Dad has one and uses his to steam his 4 wheeler.  Works great on the engine to keep it looking good.
