Well, deer season is over, it's snowing [again], the temperature is forecast to be around 10° for the weekend, all the water in the surrounding states is frozen, and the boat is in storage.  What is a man to do?

I hear ya'!   :'(   Same thing up here in New England.  I pour plastics and make traditional wooden bows.  And usually moan and groan to my wife about how much I miss fishin".

This winter's a little different though.  Bass Pro Shop opened a new store at Patriot Place, right next to Gillette Stadium.  So I go there and wander around for hours at a time.  The Patriots help me get through to February, and the Red Sox and spring trainin' get me through ice out.   :)

Ah...We don't have any PRO teams (one AAA) either.  I was thinking of actually cleaning every gun I own, and lubing reels...that would occupy at least one weekend.  Oh, the sportsman show is this weekend...

it should be at least 60 days til ice-out here... :(

Figured I wouls pull this one out of the archives here since all the water here (well, almost all of it) is hard again.  One of my troops told me about his ice fishin' trip down to Audubon over the weekend...I guess I have to find some weather good enough for the power plant lake sometime this month...(just for the info...this is North Dakota and I can fish from the boat in the winter)...thanks to Minn-Kota Power.  Now I just have to muster up the nuggets to do it in temps that are hovering around 0.

I always figure March 15...and hope for the best.
Since I've been a pup, early cold usually tempers later in the season...so potentially, a warmer later winter could be on the way...but with the apparent start of the new ice age, it's anybody's guess now...

December and most of January isn't too bad because there are the holidays to occupy time and football to watch. Feb/Mar are the sucky months!
