I am looking at a 2007 or 2008 BassCat Pantera II. I would like some feed back on what some owners think of this boat.

Thanks in advance

OK guys I will give you the long version of this. I am currently in a Triton TR 196 w/ 200 hp Merc(2007). So I mainly stay on the Triton site. But I am thinking about swapping to Bass Cat. The Pantera II is the size boat I am looking at but do not know anybody who has one. The local Bass Cat dealer does not do test drives. So my real question is how does my TR 196 compare to the Pantera II w/ 200 hp Merc.  :-\

Think I'd find another dealer!

Can't comment on the ride/drive of the Bass Cat but I will say they are well put together. Almost as well as a Legend! ~shade ;D

That is an issue, that can't be over looked IMO.

Have never fished out of a pantera II but I have fished out of several bass cats and I like the ride.

I am sure if I had cash in my hands and said I want that boat but not until a test drive they would arrange something. But they would have to order a Pantera II if I wanted one so a test drive is still not possible.
I fish a Tournament Trail Sponsored by Bass Cat and the Owner of Bass Cat is here every year so I am sure he would arrange a ride in fact he has said just ask. So I guess I should not say a test drive is impossible. I am just doing my homework before I get too far into this.

Thanks for everybody's comments.

I agree I'd think I'd find another dealer, in my opinion...

That being said, I own a 35th Anniversary (2007) PII Dual Console....and I LOVE IT...it's my second PII (1997 was my first--ten year split, that's how long I keep mine)..

It "feels" wider than my old PII (deck design) and has more storage than I'll use (two rod lockers, and two LARGE center storage units, as well as rear storage)...though I will say that I did like my underseat storage from 1997...

The fit and finish are typical Bass Cat (excellent), and I really like the bucket seats on this model vs my "old" bench style seat.

The boat rips out of the hole and is pretty darn fast (75 gps on a good day), has outstanding rough water drive--I simply DO NOT get wet...and the large consoles actually, you know, block the wind...it also handles like a dream..

My boat rocks, I really love it, and won't consider another brand--Bass Cat Customer Support is world class and second to none--if you have any specific questions, let me know...I just can't really compare my boat to yours because I know nothing about Tritons!

Edit---I live in South Georgia and I'd be happy to meet you somewhere in between (if possible, I do have a 5 month old at home) and let you drive mine---also, FYI, I dealt with Sherm's Marine in INDIANA--and I'm from St. Mary's GEORGIA---does that tell you anything about Sherm????  Give him a call, (shermsmarine.com) he can really get into the weeds!

Thanks that really hepls out. I have ridden in a 97 model before so I am glad you have had both.
I live in North Alabama so I might take you up on that test ride. The tournament trail I fish is sponsored by BassCat and I really like the people there. So your comments are good to hear. Wow 75 GPS is fast. I assume that is you by yourself and running a 200 Hp.

Thanks again.

I had a 2007 Pan II, was destroyed in a wreck coming home from a TX.  Along with my leg, ect.......

Anyway, I sure do miss it, opted for a Champion, wish I would have stayed with BassCat.  Nothing against Champion, I have a great boat, but the PanII just fit me better.

Yes, and to be honest.. by myself, less than 1/2 tank, and with my relatively light tourney load...

I generally run High 60s, maybe low 70s with two people, livewells with water (and 20 pounds of fish ~roflmao ~roflmao just kidding), and gear...

That is exactly what I had it figured to run. That is still fast.
How does it drive at that speed? Any chine walk? Do you have to know what you are doing to drive it?

Oh and the 20 lbs of fish .... It is nice to dream.  Since the only time I can see 20 lbs of fish is in practice and never in a tournament I might be a tad faster in the tournament. At least I would look good  Ha ha ha....

I have a 93 Pantera II, I know its not new, but it still runs great, has a 200 Yamaha ProV, tops out about 71-72 w/ just me, handles great in all but the roughest of waters (what bass boat doesn't get you wet in 4' whitecaps), everything still works, carpet gettinga little worn, wouldn't hesitate to buy a new one if I could right now

I don't own either but i'm just curious why you're thinking of leaving Triton?  I have a Jon boat right now, but in a few years i plan to get the biggest Glass bass boat i can afford, 19Ft or larger or i will continue to wait.  I've been looking at several of the boat post.  I know that Legend is an advertiser here, but i also think Mike and Laurie would not steer us wrong, so there opinions matter a lot to me, and it sounds like Legend may be the way to go, if the price is affordable.

I love my Triton. Do not want to change. I had a few friends wanting me to swap over to BassCat to a PII. My tournament partner is looking at a PII. He did not like the way my TR 196 drove. I laugh at him now that I learned how to drive it. The say BassCat has a better finish but I think I will be in my Triton for a long time.
