I haven't fished for Rainbows in a long time, been 15/16 years or so.

Last time was when I was stationed up in MT, most everyone was into fly fishing, I just didn't have the $$$ to buy those fly rods or the time to learn.  Used to go down to the inlet creek on one of the lakes and used open face spinning reels all the time.  Had one spot I had to crawl down the side of the mountain to get to a ledge about 3 or 4 foot above the water line and would cast a heavy weight with crawlers right into the back currents behind the boulders.  Used to just smoke them and had many of the fly anglers come boating by seeing me catch those big rainbows and cast flies in the water without luck.  Sometimes it's better to try something new, the key is to find out what the fish want because no matter what anyone else might think if you are catching fish you are doing something right.  ;)

I would think some natural worms if you are restricted to artificial baits worked with the current around cover will produce, but like I said it's been a long time since I did any trout fishing.

Good Luck
