I'm going to paint an 8" Lunker Punker. If you've ever seen these, they have a pretty thick clearcoat on them- I think Black Dog used D2T. Should I try and sand most of it off before I paint it, or just sand it a little, paint it, then clearcoat it again? I could also use Dick Nite's if you think that would be better. Thanks guys. ~cf

I dont ever try and take they paint off. You just need a scuff so the primer has something to hold on to. Be careful with DN, it's very reactive. Spray your paintjob with createx clear before using it, Or you might get alot of wrinkled paint! Ive had it happen plenty of time's no matter how much I heat set the lures.

One problem is that the eyes are under a thick layer of epoxy also. Should I just cover them with tape and be careful not to spray them? There's no way an exacto knife will get them out- that stuff it THICK. Thanks

I've done one of the 8" bbz's before and they have some pretty thick stuff on the eyes too. Just use a new x-acto blade and wiggle it around the eyes until they pop out ( make dam- sure your hand isn't under the knife when doing this unless you want to use real blood on the gill's) . Make sure you get all the clearcoat out of the eye socket or it will make it hard to get the new eye's in.

Here's that article I was telling you about. The BBZ. Scan came out pretty bad. I had to run this article through a translator to read it. lol. He also tried to help me out by taking the paint off the BBZ with a Dremel!!!! Dont ever do that, actually created alot more work for me.. Great guy though, and believe it or not there's some huge bass over in France.

The BBZ-1 is a huge bait! Nice work man. At first I thought you were talking about Spro's new 4" shad lo. I like that bluegill too! ~c~
