i had a guy ask for this ( he sent pictures). i guess these are a favorite of stripers in the northeast.
9" long. the tail is segmented so it will curl under on the retrieve. the arms and claws are moveable to either a down position or a defensive up angle. the hooks are anchored to the body with 60# Berklet leader and held in position on the bait with magnets embedded in the lure. the front feelers ( i guess that is what they are called ) are made with auto wire insulation jacket. they can be adjusted to different positions but still are flexible so as not to get in the way of the hookset.

p.s. approx. 50 hrs. to make

WOW!  That kinda' craftsmanship never ceases to amaze me.  Very talented folks here on UB.  Very good job!   ~c~

JR, how well do you think that will hold up when a lineside gets hold of it?  Everything is wood, right?

This is for saltwater stripes, right?

Cool!  ~c~ Must be after some pretty huge stripers with that. :shocking:

Thats a work of art right there  ~c~ and with 50 hours into it there is not a striper on the planet worthy of that meal  lo

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

Much of the work on here with making lures or custom paint schemes is truly, truly amazing!

I know there is a market for 'old' lures out there, but these things in my mind truly outclass those old things...I am wondering when collecting these works of art will become it's own cottage industry much like wood decoys were/are?

A couple of years ago I bought an ice fishing lure (decoy) which is a hand-made, approx. 9" pike designed to be jigged in an ice hold for folks who spear big pike.

I'd use the clapping icon, but it in no way is adequate...

I need an emoticon that's bowing and saying 'I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy'...

OUTSTANDING!  not only the workmanship, but the thought process to design the tail, the claws and topped off with (accolades fail me at this point) 'that paint job'...

jrhopkins:  wow.  love getting to see these things...
