Hey guys just wondering how many of you have or listen to the radio on the bass boat.. i have a 1993 nitro single console and would like to put a radio in it...just wondering if any of you out there with a single console have installed a radio and can maybe point me in the right direction as to where you might have mounted it and where you mounted the speakers..i was wondering if it would be better to cut out the side of the fiberglass and mount right into it or better to put some 6x9 's in little boxes so i can set them out when i want to listen to them and put them in the drystorage when not in use...give me your thoughts and opinions guys....thanks

I just use a portable radio.

I've seen folks put the speakers at the end of the rod lockers though. It really depends on the boat layout.

I have an article in a magazine where you start with a large Plano double sided tackle box.  Cut a hole on one side to install a car style radio.  Intall speakers on the topside and run an ext. cord with a cigarette lighter plug out the bottom.  The cord can be stored in the tackle box.  and the whole thing stashed in dry storage when not needed and taken to another boat if you want to.

I do have one on my Triton and the speakers are built in under the consoles .
I don't use it that much just every so often i'll pop a CD and listen.

ya thats kinda what i was thinking about cutting holes out either on the rod locker or on the side of the front deck where the step up is to get on the deck i was wondering how that would work because right where the step up is there is a dry storage so i could mount from the inside of the storage....i don't think it would hurt anything..but again not sure how good of an idea it is to cut into the fiberglass...i was thinking about hanging a radio mount under the steering wheel...and running wires under the carpet to that part of the deck where the step up is....i am doing the portable radio thing now and just think it would be nice to have something mounted in there...i am using this boat as a fishing boat but there are times when the wife and kids just want to go out for a ride...or for those days when the bite is slow...nothing like kicking back and listening to some tunes....thanks for your input guys..any one else please feel free to respond...thanks

I for one want to know how your going to run speaker wires under your carpet. That would be a pretty neat trick.  >:D   lo

My last partner and I use to play the radio or cd all the time even when fishing tournaments. When ya go real shallow in a quiet cove then we'd turn it off, other than that it was on.

Fishing a night tournament with a full moon catching fish and listening to Pink FLoyd Dark side of the Moon.  ~c~  Awesome try it some time.
