David L. Welch

   I grew up in Homer, Louisiana, out on Lake Claiborne. I attended school at Homer High School, and in my senior year joined the Navy (1988). In the Navy I was designated a Hospital Corpsman onboard the USS O'Bannon (DD-987) from 1988-1991. My four year enlistment took me to foreign lands and away from bass fishing for awhile.

               While in the Navy I was charged with ship board health maintenance of all crew members, Galley health inspections, Water testing, Training of new crew members in first aid, and advanced training of stretcher bearer teams.

   Upon discharge from service in 1992, I returned to the North Louisiana area and resumed recreational fishing. While transitioning from military to civilian life, I
completed nursing school and have worked in various hospital settings.

                I am now charged with the supervision of orderlies and nursing assistants, as well as direct patient care. I have conducted several inservices including; Use of peritoneal dialysis equipment and care of access sites for peritoneal dialysis, alternatives to restraints in preparation for Joint Commission Survey, and presented said inservice to the Joint Commission Survey Team.

   In 2002 I began competitive tournament fishing:
      2002- My partner and Mentor (Bill Gross) and I fished
                                         the MediaBass  North Louisiana division, having two top
                                         25 finishes and  qualifying for the championship. Average of
                                         55 teams attending this regional tournament trail.

      2003- I began fishing club tournaments, where I had 5 top 3
                                         finishes and one win.

      2004- I continued fishing club tournaments with, yet again
                                         5 top 3 fininshes and one win, and placed 5th in angler
                                         of the year standings. "The Club had an average of 16
                                         participants in this local tournament club.
                                         
                                         My wife and I began fishing with the Twin Cities Team
                                         Club. We are happy here and enjoy the friendships and
                                         fishing. we finished 7th in team of the year standings.
                                         The Twin Cities Team club has and average of 20 participants
                                         in this local tournament series.
                                       
                                          I was picked twice to guide for Sams Town Casino
                                         VIP's while fishing in a tournament setting. This tournament
                                         has an average of 60 participants.
                                         
                For the second year was called upon to guide for
                                          Clement Industries Dealers network in a tournament
                                          setting. There are an average of 16 participants             
                                          representing states from across the nation.

                                          Finished 26th in the Louisiana State BASS Federation
                                          Fall qualifier. This tournament has anglers from the state
                                          of Louisiana with approxamatley 65 participants.

      2004- I began writing articles for the web-site. the web-site
                                         currently has over 1300 members from across the United
                                         States and 4 foreign countries.

      2005- I was involved in the planning and hosting of the
                                         Ultimatebass Club Shootout, held June 25th and 26th
                                         on Grand Bayou res. In Coushatta, Louisiana. The
                                         Ultimatebass Club Shootout had 34 participants from
                                         Louisiana and florida.


   Future Goals include:
      
      1. Continuation of competitive tournament angling.

      2. Continuation of writing and board moderator duties on
                                    Ultimatebass.com.
      
      3. Interacting with more people and companies through
                                    media outlets.

      4. Improving the image of fishing to non-anglers.


     Upon acceptance to a sponsoring company I am willing to:

                                1. Attend local and regional conventions, expositions, and shows
                                 to promote the companies products and services.

                                2. Display the companies Logo's and names to viewers and provide
                                contact information.

                                3. Place the companies logo and names on the Ultimatebass
                                web-site under my signature. With over 1300 posts that are
                                read daily by people nation wide and a site that can be found
                                by popular internet searches such as Google and yahoo, this
                                alone can be beneficial to a company.
